Tales from a female racer's perspective...

My perspective: A new race year!
December 24, 2003

The forms have been filled out and mailed. We are anticipating to compete quite heavily in 2004! With the exciting rule changes to my class (I can finally compete with other 250s without the anoyance of the SVs....and don't get me wrong SVs are nice bikes, but now are where they belong, in another class). I can honestly say that I am looking forward to this year. While I was filling out my entry for Daytona in February I wanted a new bike - a 600. I decided that competing on my Aprilia was just not enough anymore. I would have to spend more than I would like to modify my bike to compete in the Lightweight Supersport and Superbike classes that I used to run with much success in 2001. No sense in that when I could move (reluctantly) to a 600. But I love racing my Aprilia. It is reliable and an incredibly fun bike to ride. So as I am looking for my typical Middleweight Sportsman class I see that it is not listed (did I mention that they explain this but I skipped right to the forms?). I went back to see what changes took place over the last 2 months and behold - an Ultra-Light Superbike Class (Am and Ex) that replaces the Sportsman and SuperSingles classes. Yahoo!! I know that 250s in this country are not as highly regarded as they used to be, but ask anyone who competes on a 250 about how much fun they have and how much they learn from the bike about cornering and their skill development. I still love my Aprilia and am thankful to CCS for changing the rules - here's to a fun and exciting 2004!
